AC Cards - Reveal

December 20, 2009

Since they've started handing out the cards to all the donors, I thought now might be a good time to reveal the Christmas cards I designed for TCBC's Advent Conspiracy project for this year:

Simple and easy. So easy that if you've put off making Christmas cards until now, you can still have them done in time! Quickly, now!

Advent Conspiracy Project - Sneak Peek #3

November 19, 2009

I'm all stitched out. Last night, I sat down at my desk with the intention of just trying out a new Christmas card design based on a card I had seen recently.

I only really wanted to make one card. But then I figured I could make a second one and try to alter something for a different design. I didn't end up altering anything.

A few hours (and 298314 faux stitch lines) later, I had made 10 cards, and 15 decorated card bases - quite the accomplishment for me!

Here's a peak at some of that faux-stitched goodness.

You'll be seeing a lot of the same colours in these sneak peeks. One way I'm saving money with this project is using the same materials, so that scraps and leftovers for one design can be used with another.

Advent Conspiracy Project - Sneak Peek #2

November 17, 2009

A little while ago, I mentioned that my sister asked me to make a bunch of Christmas cards for a project she is heading up at her church. These cards were to be given as token of thanks to donors to this project, The Advent Conspiracy.

My supplies arrived late last week so we could finally get started on the project. The challenge was to make as many cards as possible on as small a budget as possible. Originally, the numbers were $60 for 200 cards!

The cards also had to be as simple as possible, without looking too cheap, so we could make them quickly. This project is all about being super efficient.

My sister came over to help with making and assembling the pieces. It was nice to have someone so eager to do all the work! And for someone who was trying out new techniques, she did a great job.

So far we're about a quarter of the way there. I'll be back with more updates and sneak peeks!

Advent Conspiracy Project - Sneak Peek

October 16, 2009

This year, my sister's church (the church I grew up in) is participating in the Advent Conspiracy.

If you don't know what it is, here's a link to check out what it's all about: http://www.adventconspiracy.org/

Anyway, she's helping out with organizing it and she asked me to make some cards to give as a "thank you" to people who donate items.

Here's a sneak peak of parts of the cards:

I'm really excited about this project. It's my first big card project (... okay, second. My first big, huge one was my wedding thank you cards but I'd like to put that behind me) so I hope it turns out well!

Special Project

August 4, 2009

I apologize for the lack of posts! But last week, I was secretly working on a special project. On Wednesday, I got this great idea and I was really driven to work on it, which got me really excited because that rarely happens. But of course, this great surge of creative energy has to come when I have the least amount of time to work on it. I'm nearing the end of my school term and exams are around the corner (... and the procrastinator award goes to ... me). But anyway, not important now.

I was secretly working on a present for Mr. Tsoi to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary (August 2)!

I found out after I was almost finished the project that the first anniversary is the paper anniversary, which was great news because I was making a book of 365 things I love about Mr. Tsoi.

I've never made a book before so I really had to improvise on this one. Here's how it ended up looking:

I'm so glad it held together, and I'm even more glad that Mr. Tsoi loved it. Happy anniversary!
