btsoidesigns on Etsy!

September 29, 2009

I am pleased to announce the grand opening of btsoidesigns on Etsy!

This was a real challenge for me, wandering blindly into this foreign territory, but slowly I picked things up here and there. After months of preparation, I had no more excuses not to open the shop. So I gathered every ounce of courage I had an listed my first item. Then the next... and another one...

Now, I just have to sit tight and wait for customers! Maybe I'll get some and be overjoyed, or maybe I'll get none and be a little disappointed. But at least I'll know I tried!

I've replaced my Card Gallery over in my sidebar with my mini Etsy.

Hope you'll head over and check it out :)

Liz and Ingle

September 28, 2009

My good friend, Liz, got married this weekend. I met her during frosh week during our first year at university and I lived with her in second year.. until I got pregnant.

Anyway! We got to celebrate with her and her new hubby, Ingle, this weekend and they had a beautiful wedding. They're so cute together, so in love and the best part is that God's very evidently the centre of their marriage.

I wrapped up their gift the night before and since there were two pieces, I needed something to keep them together. Ribbon was all I had on hand (well, that an a LOT of scotch tape but I figure that might detract from the presentation...) so I tied them together.

I liked how the curls fell from the centre of the knot but I knew that wouldn't stay so here's trick I learned recently, from a florist's bouquet - tape down where the bottom of the curl sits on the surface! So simple but so genius!

Cheers to the newly weds :)

Button Birthday Card

September 15, 2009

I was intending to give that birthday card I made last week to my friend's little girl who's turning 2, but I saw them this past weekend at church and I caught a glimpse of her brand new (and oh-so-cute) shoes and I couldn't stop thinking about them. *pauses for a breath*

So later that night, I sat at my Cameron and tried to think how I could make a more personal card for her and then it hit me - I could use her shoes as inspiration for my card!

Her shoes were dark brown with five differently coloured buttons along the top, so I tried to mimic that in my card.

Buttons are so cute!

Where have YOU unexpectedly found inspiration?

It's A Boy Card

September 11, 2009

I've had my heart set on the Nursery Necessities (#113506) set ever since I had my eyes set on it but I couldn't really justify getting it. I don't scrapbook too much so I couldn't really say that I'd make an album for my son (which I had originally intended on doing but never got around to it). I'm really more of a card-maker, and I didn't really have any reason to make baby cards...

Until now! Now, I've got a bunch of friends who are all expecting (ladies, you're making my womb jealous!) so I have reason to get it now! Yay! One of my friends is expecting a boy so this card would be perfect. It'd be fitting for twins too, because of the two elephants, but she's having just one.

So here's my first card with this set. As always, kept it nice and simple. Nothing fancy... not sure if this is one of those stick-it-in-an-envelope kinda cards though. I think it'd look cute enough perched atop a snuggly little blanket or outfit, don't you think?

Kid's Birthday Card

September 10, 2009

I've been meaning to make this card for quite some time now, I just never had the chance to this past summer. But now that things are settling down and my little guy is in school the whole day, I have some time on my hands!

For this card, all I really wanted to do was use Stampin' Up's Wild About You animals (they're so cute!) and cut them out. I didn't know what else I wanted to do so I kept it simple and just did a faux stitch around the edge, and wrote the sentiment on myself.

(Does anyone else feel like they're lacking some sentiments? I always feel like I don't have a stamp that says what I want it to say, the way I want it to look. I guess it's time to go shopping again!)

Anyway, here's the card!
